"We're not in Kansas anymore..."

These words I spoke happily as we crossed the last state border before our final destination, St. Louis, MO. I am starting a new habitation with my family here, as we have left all friends, family, and home, behind in Western Washington State. In the late Fall of 2007, I was offered a job relocation over a layoff, and decided to pursue it as another big life adventure.
My wife and I are both from the South and Midwest, so we were actually excited about the opportunity to move in this direction. It's hard to leave so much behind, but sometimes it's good to experience a big change such as this. We set out the end of the first week of March, with a vehicle and 22' diesel rental truck, and arrived six days later. The drive was long and exhausting, taking us through ice-covered wastelands and lofty mountain passes, but we made it safe and sound.

Below are some pictures of the drive.
