Storms out on the Plains

I had hoped that we would be able to travel across the Great Plains during the spring, that we might witness some grand thunderstorms, from a safe distance, of course. That didn't work out, however, but traveling along in South Dakota, I did spy a strong system off to North, and even though it was too far to view details of its awesome structure, I could appreciate why so many storm chasers crowd onto the plains each year. You simply get to see the entire picture, as there are few obstructions to the view. I would liken it, to choosing to watch a movie on the big screen, before it goes to DVD, because you know you won't be able to fully replicate the screen size on your home TV.
