...though it doesn't feel like it here. With the warm, rainy, muggy weather we're experiencing this week, it seems more like Summer is desperately clinging, white-knuckled!
Autumn...our favorite season. Cooler days, vibrant, mixed colors across the land, and pumpkin pie lattes...among many other favorable attributes. The hot, muggy weather of Summer in the Midwest begins to wear on one's psyche, establishing a desire for Fall. Almost every avid Summer enthusiast is generally happy at the onset of Fall, because everything gets old after a time. A year-long Fall would become dull, just as a year-long Summer, excruciating. It's wonderful that the seasons last long enough, so that you are ready for the next, regardless of which one you favor.
Last year's Autumn season nearly passed undetected by my family, due to being tied up with our first house-buying experience. There were many activities we would have participated in, had our time been less consumed. No regrets, however, since we still had fun exploring St. Louis to find a new home. This year will hopefully be more special, though, as we're now settled into our home, and can focus on getting out to enjoy the season. Fall foliage can be astounding here, being surrounded by so many deciduous forests. Hickory, oaks, maples, among many others, offer rich colors through October. If all goes well, God-willing, we'll do some Fall camping, and drive along scenic routes, capturing numerous, colorful pictures of Autumn.
Wishing everyone an equally enjoyable Fall season!
